Before we get to The Barn at Sunset Ranch, let’s start with Mike and Hannah’s story. It began way back in middle school—yes, middle school, when they were each other’s first kiss. They “dated” in seventh grade. Then life happened, as it does, and they lost touch for years. Fast forward to adulthood: Mike moved back to Colorado, they reconnected, and suddenly all that teenage history turned into the real deal.
These two are very much a Colorado couple—active, outdoorsy, die-hard sports fans (go Broncos), and the kind of people who will happily geek out over a good cocktail menu.
By the time the big day rolled around in Buena Vista, CO, the anticipation was high. They decided to do a “first touch” before the ceremony, holding hands and sharing a quiet moment without actually seeing each other. It was a perfect choice for them, leaving room for the big reveal later.

The ceremony had one of my favorite first looks—the kind that happens right there at the aisle. Mike’s reaction when Hannah walked toward him was everything you’d hope for: zero attempt at hiding his emotions, just pure awe, and maybe some disbelief that he actually gets to marry her. Honestly, I think everyone there felt it.
Mike was completely obsessed with Hannah, and I mean that in the sweetest, most obvious way. Every chance he got, he was holding her, kissing her, or looking at her as if she were the only person in the room. It was the natural way he loves her.
They also had some fun details that gave the wedding its own personality. Case in point: an espresso bar before the ceremony. Not your average pre-wedding cocktail hour move, but genius. Guests were buzzing, literally.
The weather tried to throw in some drama that afternoon, with forecasts hinting at rain and thunder. But instead of a storm, the clouds rolled in just enough to create this soft, even light that made the ceremony feel calm and cozy. It was one of those “dodged a bullet” wedding day moments that turned out to be just what they needed.

As if the day hadn’t already delivered enough, the sky showed off during sunset. We headed out for portraits and were met with one of those wild Colorado skies where everything turns bright pink.
The night wrapped up with a sparkler exit, and Mike and Hannah grinning like kids the whole way through. Instead of the usual limo or getaway car, they climbed into the back of Hannah’s uncle’s red convertible. It was such a fun, quirky, perfectly them way to drive off into married life.

“Lizzy is a phenomenal photographer and so easy to work with! We chose her to do our engagement and wedding photos because we loved her style and work. My husband and I both hate taking pictures, but Lizzy made everything relaxing, easy and fun. Her laid back style and quick communication made this part of wedding planning enjoyable. I would 10/10 recommend her to anyone wanting professional photos!”
