Zach and Brittany’s Colorado mountain wedding in Steamboat Springs felt thoughtfully built from the ground up, and then handed over to the mountains to do their thing. Held at Steamboat Resort, the day started with guests riding the gondola up to the ceremony site, which wasn’t your standard wedding experience. Something is grounding about that slow ride up, watching the landscape stretch out below you, knowing something beautiful is waiting at the top.
It was a summer wedding, technically, but Colorado had other ideas. Clouds rolled in fast, thunder echoed through the hills, and you could feel the storm creeping. Somehow, the rain held off just long enough for vows to be exchanged. The mountain scenery framed everything, and this was a pretty good reflection of real life (and real weddings) when you strip away the expectations and let things unfold as they’re meant to.

Zach and Brittany are what I’d lovingly call high-functioning planners. Type A in the best sense—organized, thoughtful, and very clear about what mattered to them. That energy showed up everywhere, and every detail felt like it belonged exactly where it was.
They found me through their planner, and from the start, we connected over color, light, and photography that leans into real moments. Truthfully, this wedding was a dream for that. The layered florals, ceremony arrangements, and the signage and paper goods were all cohesive and elevated. The reception details followed that same rhythm. Thoughtful table settings, beautiful linens, candles, and menus, everything worked together. You could tell how much care went into the planning, but it never felt like the details mattered more than the people sitting at the tables. That balance is harder to pull off than it looks.

By the time the ceremony wrapped, the storm clouds had done their job and set the mood, and it was time to shift into celebration mode. And they did not ease into it. A live band took over the reception and immediately turned the room into a full-on party! The emotional moments and the fun coexisted, and the packed dance floor stayed that way all night. Because this is Steamboat and not your average venue, everyone hopped on the gondola and rode back down the mountain together. It was a quiet, cool-air descent after a very full day.
