It’s a restaurant first, one of the best in Colorado, which means a Flagstaff House wedding comes with something most venues can’t offer: food that guests actually talk about long after the day is over. The outdoor terraces face east over the plains with views stretching toward Mount Sanitas, and the Glass Atrium opens up completely in good weather.
Simeon and Sarah were exactly the kind of couple this venue was made for, intentional, low-key, and more interested in a really good day with close people than anything else.
If you’re not familiar, the Flagstaff House is perched at the top of Flagstaff Mountain just outside of Boulder. The indoor space has warm wood interiors and a fireplace, and the views from the property are some of the best in the Front Range. It works equally well for an intimate wedding or a larger celebration — but for a smaller guest count like Simeon and Sarah’s, it hits differently. Everything feels more considered, more personal. You notice the details because there’s room to actually see them.
The florals from Boulder Blooms were simple and well done — soft arrangements that complemented the space without competing with the views. The ceremony was quiet and personal, the kind that feels like it was written specifically for the two people standing in it. Because it was.
After the ceremony, they stayed at the Flagstaff House for lunch — guests around the table, food worth talking about, and the kind of easy afternoon that only happens when the guest list is people who actually know each other.
After lunch we headed down to Chautauqua Park for portraits, which is about ten minutes from the venue and one of the most iconic spots in Boulder. The Flatirons right there, wide open meadows, afternoon light coming in at a good angle. It’s a completely different energy from the restaurant, more open, more relaxed, and it gives couples a chance to exhale after the ceremony and just exist together for a bit without a timeline hanging over them.
Simeon and Sarah were easy in front of the camera. They laughed a lot and didn’t take themselves too seriously, which always makes for the best photos. By the time we wrapped in the park the day felt full and unhurried in the best sense, like nothing had been rushed and nothing had been missed.
If you’re planning a Flagstaff House wedding or an intimate celebration anywhere in the Boulder area, I’d love to hear about it.
