Some couples spend months obsessing over centerpieces and timelines, but Chris and Becca spent their energy on something harder to come by, actually being present. And honestly? That’s what made this day.
They got married on a perfect September day at Grand Lake Lodge, one of those venues that earns every bit of its reputation. Perched on a mountainside above Grand Lake, Colorado, the lodge has been around for over a century. With Rocky Mountain National Park sitting right at the edges, it’s surrounded by aspens and evergreens and views that stretch so far you start to feel small in the best way. I know I’ll be coming back, even if only for a cocktail overlooking the lake shimmering below. It’s the kind of place that makes people pull out their phones just walking up to it, and then quietly put them away because no photo is going to do it justice.

They walked down the aisle in sunglasses. It set the tone perfectly. This was a celebration, not a performance. They wanted to feel every bit of it — and they did. That energy carried through the entire day, relaxed and full of joy in a way you can’t manufacture. You can only create the conditions for it and trust the people you love to show up. Chris and Becca had both figured out.
Music is woven into who Chris is, it’s part of his story, part of how he and Becca found each other. So it made complete sense that the band playing the ceremony and reception were not only close friends, but incredibly talented musicians. People who know them, who have been in the room for the story. That changes the energy of a whole day. The music wasn’t background — it was part of the celebration in the truest sense of that word.
Grand Lake itself is stunning in September. The summer crowds have thinned, the light goes golden earlier, and the mountains feel closer somehow. The lodge sits high enough that you get those panoramic views — the town of Grand Lake below, the lake catching everything above it, the Rockies doing what the Rockies do. Guests could wander the property, settle in by the fire on the Deer Deck, breathe the air. It had that summer camp quality that makes people linger. Nobody was in a hurry to be anywhere else.
That’s what Chris and Becca built. A day that felt full right from the start. A day where the music meant something, the setting was genuinely breathtaking, and the people in the room were exactly the right people. The sunglasses at the altar were a clue — these two were going to enjoy this. And they did.
If you’re dreaming of a Colorado mountain wedding and Grand Lake Lodge is on your radar, I hope this gives you a little window into what a day there can feel like. It’s a special one. Congratulations, Chris and Becca, it was such a joy to be there for it. 🤍
